What can we say, 2020 has been bizarre.
We closed for a few months to support the NHS and key workers across Wales in their fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
We reopened on the 25th of May and welcomed many new and old friends and customers back to Mizzi, with new rules in place to make sure all our customers and staff feel safe and comfortable in our family cafe.
It has been a whirlwind and a time filled with anxiety, especially as a local family-run business in the hospitality sector. But we are grateful for each and every one of you for supporting us through these difficult times, your custom has literally saved us!
For those who haven’t been back in Mizzi since lockdown or for those heading back to offices in Cardiff Bay in the near future, we wanted to let you know what we are doing to ensure your visit to Mizzi is as comfortable and safe as it can be.
Hand sanitiser is available on entry and exit to the cafe ensuring all hands are clean prior to touching any items within the cafe itself. Our tables (both inside and outside) are now available and safe to use, all social distancing measures are in tact if you do choose to eat in. As per our usual cleaning schedule, all tables will be thoroughly sanitised between uses. Again as per our usual protocol, all our staff members are regularly washing their hands in the correct manner according to the Food Standards Agency. In correlation with this, we were recently awarded another 5 out of 5 Food Standards Agency Hygiene Rating highlighting our commitment to healthy and hygienic hospitality protocol.
Our floors and walls are marked with social distancing guidelines of 2 metres to ensure no one forgets the role they have to play to ensure the virus does not spread within our premises. Please ensure if you are coming with small children that you sanitise their hands as we know they like to touch lots of surfaces! Everyone has the option of ordering via phone to ensure contactless orders and contactless payment remains an option for everyone.
We hope you all feel comfortable continuing to visit Mizzi and in the future, when you return to work or feel more comfortable to leave your homes.
Stay safe
Madeleine and Mick
